Uganda / Rwanda 23.7-3.8.2017

Uganda is for a „Muzungu“, that’s how the natives named the white tourists, an authentic African experience. On the one hand side there were bumpy roads with potholes, households with no flowing water and electricity as well as working children in the fields in the countryside. On the other hand there is this incredible richness of this small and friendly country in East Africa with its breath taking green landscapes, the numerous lakes as well as its easy going and amiable people and not to forget its rich variety of wildlife. There are, of course, the amazing mountain gorillas, of which half of the planet’s residing here, but also the greatest variety of other primates in the world and last but not least, the famous tree-climbing lions, who can only be found in Uganda.

For me the gorilla tracking, which is a several hour march through thick, thorny rainforest and across rivers up to precipitous mountains, and finally the one hour meeting with this elusive creatures was a unique experience I will remember for the rest of my life.
